The police have launched an investigation after a young man was taken to a hospital with visible injuries – the second such incident to take place in Male’ City this month.
A police spokesperson said that the police received a report at around 11:40 pm on Friday regarding a person being taken to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with injuries.
When asked whether the incident is connected to gang violence, the spokesperson said that the cause of the injuries is unclear, but that the police were investigating the case.
The police have yet to make an arrest in the case, added the spokesperson.
A spokesperson from IGMH told identified the person brought in with injuries as a 27-year-old male.
The spokesperson said the patient was brough in at around 01:27 am on Saturday, and has been discharged after treatment.
It marks the second such incident to take place in Male’ within the span of weeks.
On January 15, a man was found collapsed in Raiyvilla Hingun, the road at the back of the Senahiya Hospital, with visible injuries.
The case is also under investigation by the police.
