Discussions held on training opportunities for Corrections officers from Thailand

Discussions have been held on facilitating training opportunities from Thailand for Maldives Correctional Service (MCS)’s prison officers.

Commissioner of Prisons Hassan Zareer held the discussions with Thailand’s Department of Corrections during a visit undertaken to the country at the invitation of the latter.

During the visit, CP Zareer met with senior officials from Thailand’s Justice Ministry and Department of Justice.

The meeting saw discussions on enhancing cooperation between the agencies and facilitating training opportunities from Thailand for MCS prison officers.

CP Zareer is accompanied by senior MCS officials during this trip.

The team also visited Chiang Mai Central Prison and various other correctional facilities in Bangkok.

They also inquired about rehabilitation programs underway for inmates and how they are provided healthcare.
