Car arson suspects remanded in custody for 15 days

The two suspects who were arrested on suspicion of torching a car parked at a parking zone in Male’ City have been remanded in custody for 15 days.

A car parked at Sinamale’ 1 Parking Zone in Buruzu Magu was torched at approximately 18:25pm on Monday evening.

Two men were arrested under a court order in connection to the arson; Khalid Mahmood, 35, M. Araaraiykuri, Male’ and Hassan Naseem, 31, Blue Wind, ADh. Maamgili.

Police, on Friday night, said both individuals have been remanded in custody for 15 days. 

The case is under further investigation by the Police.

A video of the torched car went viral on social media on the day of the incident which shows that the car was torched from the front. The video also shows MNDF’s Fire and Rescue officials engaged in controlling the fire.
