National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), on Friday night, has denied allegations against the Agency concerning the procurement of an office building for the Agency, adding a complaint has been filed with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the matter.
The allegations on social media regarding the procurement of an office building for NSPA claimed that an MVR 34.8 million transaction concerning the procurement of an office building for the Agency was conducted with an individual other than the owner of the building.
NSPA released a statement denying the allegations citing the transaction was conducted in between the Finance Ministry and the Agency in line with regulations – adding there was no involvement of another party in the matter.
The Agency also stressed that the information was accessible to the public in a widely transparent manner.
NSPA strongly condemned efforts to plot doubts among the public regarding the integrity of an entity that is responsible for ensuring the social welfare of the people.
The statement further read that NSPA has filed a complaint with ACC to investigate the allegations, uncover the truth behind it via an independent investigation and subsequently take action.
A letter signed by NSPA’s President Heena Waleed sent to ACC’s President Adam Shamil requested an investigation into the allegations and subsequently, share the Commission’s findings at the earliest.
