Met Office urges caution warning of rough seas

Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) has urged caution warning of rough seas.

In this regard, Met Office detailed that rough seas are expected in northern and central Maldives with waves between three and six feet. Mildly rough seas are expected in southern Maldives which is expected to get rougher during showers with waves between four and seven feet.

Notably, Met Office has issued a white alert from 13:15pm to 19:00pm warning of strong winds from Haa Alifu Atoll to Faafu Atoll.

As per the weather forecasting body, strong winds between 19 to 24 miles per hour are expected in the region during this period with rough seas.

They also warned of rain across various parts of Maldives, with some islands expected to see heavy rain with thunder.

Winds will be from west and northwesterly directions at 13 to 23 miles per hour in northern and central atolls, and eight to 18 miles per hour in southern atolls. Gusts of 40 miles per hour are expected during showers.

Henceforth, Met Office urged the public, especially seafarers, to exercise caution.
