Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office on Tuesday, Minister Saeed noted that the government was undertaking significant efforts to promote investing in the Maldives. In this trajectory, he said the government was seeking ways to produce a film on Maldives in collaboration with Hollywood as part of achieving President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s goal of a creative economy.

“We sent a letter to the writer of Finding Nemo. We had the opportunity to work with a startup company in Hollywood as part of these efforts who have traveled to the Maldives and met with a great number of people,” he detailed.

The company is scheduled to undertake a second visit to the Maldives, added the Minister.

He said these efforts will aid in showcasing investment opportunities in the Maldives to the world.

Minister Saeed underscored that President Muizzu was undertaking efforts to ensure creative economy is a sector recognized by the government. In this trajectory, he said Business Centre Corporation (BCC) was undertaking efforts to build a creative economy hub.

Members of the general public has previously pointed out the need to promote Maldives as tourist destination via cartoons and films. However, no authority has initiated efforts in this regard.
