Expat injured while working aboard a dredger in Hulhumale’ dies

An expatriate who was injured while aboard a dredger at Hulhumale’ lagoon has died on Friday.

The incident took place at approximately 10:38am Friday morning.

As per the Police, Hulhumale’ Hospital had declared the expatriate dead on arrival after he was brought in following the incident.

The Police identified the deceased as a 30-year-old Indian man.

The incident is under further investigation by the Police.

Many scrutinize the failure to uphold safety standards while undertaking such types of work in the Maldives. The failure to adhere to proper safety standards has resulted in devastating incidents; some resulting in fatalities.
