IUM announces Book Grant

Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) on Tuesday, announced the launch of its 'Book Grant' to help employees in authoring their books.

The MVR 332,000 worth grant was officially launched on Tuesday morning, by the Vice Chancellor of IUM Dr. Visal Moosa and Dean, Center of Research and Publication, Dr. Aminath Shafiyya Adam.

Permanent academic staff, deputy vice chancellors and other seniors of the university have the opportunity to seek financial assistance to pursue their aspirations of completing their books.

The current round of IUM's Book Grant is focused on publishing works related to 'Study Guides'.

IUM's Vice Chancellor said the university would publish the 'Study Guides' as books for general readers.

Visal also said priority will given to projects that focus on subjects or focus areas that currently lack sufficient books in Dhivehi language.

The university's Research and Publication Dean said the grant will eliminate several challenges faced by students in accessing credible academic works.

This Book Grant is the latest in a series of efforts put by IUM in providing assistance for research, with similar aid provided last year as well.
