President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has accused former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration of omitting the names of numerous people on the list of flat recipients formulated by the administration of his predecessor, former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration.

Mohamed Saleem, Dhafthar 12152, Male’, had inquired whether the current administration will be awarding flats for individuals who were not awarded flats by Solih’s administration despite being on the permanent list of eligible recipients formulated by Tameen’s administration.

Responding to Saleem, President Muizzu assured that his administration will be awarding flats to individuals who did not receive flats despite being on the permanent list of eligible recipients formulated by Yameen’s administration from the flats developed under its first social housing project.

“[Former] President Solih’s administration unjustly omitted thousands of people on the permanent list [of flat recipients] at the end of [former] President Yameen’s administration,” he said.

President Muizzu added that flats will be issued from Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu for such individuals to remedy this.

Yameen’s administration had publicized the permanent list of recipients of the flats development by the administration in Hulhumale’ Phase II under the Hiyaa Housing Project. Solih’s administration which took office later formed a committee to investigate the list, citing the flats were awarded unjustly. The list of eligible recipients for flats formed by the committee following their investigation was different compared to the initial list.

The current administration has launched a mega housing project at Fushidhiggaru Falhu under the name Ras Male’ to resolve persisting housing constraints in Male’ City.
