3.3 kilo drugs attempted to be smuggled via courier seized

Customs has 3.3 kilograms of drugs attempted to be smuggled into the Maldives via courier.

As per the authority, the drugs were discovered during an expansive search of two packages that arrived in the Maldives via courier following suspicions.

The packages were searched on March 20^th.

Customs said they discovered substances suspected to be drugs during the search – which during the first phase of testing, came back positive for synthetic cathinone.

The drugs discovered from the first package weighed 3.1 kilograms while the drugs discovered from the second package weighed 210 grams, said Customs.

Customs placed the total weight of the drugs seized from both packages at 3.3 kilograms.

Customs added that the drugs have been handed over to Maldives Police Service for further investigation.
