Pres urges refrain from lies in Ramadan

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has urged politicians and political parties to refrain from lies, harassment, and infringement of others' rights during Ramadan amid parliamentary campaign.

He made the statement on Saturday at Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru, as part of his ongoing tour across the Maldives.

At the rally in Naifaru, President Dr. Muizzu raised concerns on the rise of false news corresponded by local media.

He said the news published by blogs and news media operated by anonymous individuals have continued to spread lies and fallacies.

He  also said the Holy Quran strictly evidences the consequences of spreading lies.

The president had advised, to prioritize spirituality and good deeds during the holy month of Ramadan, and extend love and compassion to one another.

Dr. Muizzu further urged to uphold the Islamic values and principles during Ramadan and refrain all acts of indecency and sins.

According to the calendar, the first of Ramadan coincides with coming Monday.
