President Muizzu returns to Male’ after concluding visit to northern atolls

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Male’ City on Thursday after concluding his visit to three northern Maldivian atolls.

The President visited some islands across Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani and Noonu atolls during this six-day visit.

However, he met with the councils and the Women Development Committees (WDCs) of all islands from Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani atolls while he met with all councils and WDCs of all islands with the exception of one from Noonu Atoll.

The meetings saw discussions regarding development-related matters of the respective islands.

Prior to his visit to northern atolls – President Muizzu visited four southern atolls; Seenu, Gnaviyani, Thaa, Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu atolls. He met with all councils and WDCs of islands from Seenu, Gnaviyani, Thaa and Gaafu Alifu atolls during the visit while he met with all councils and WDCs of all islands except for two from Gaafu Alifu Atoll.

The President’s Office said the purpose of visiting a large number of islands to meet with the respective councils in a short period of time falls under part of President Muizzu’s efforts to work closely with the public.

President Muizzu has previously remarked he aims to visit every island at least twice during his five-year term.

He is accompanied by a high-level delegation from the government during these visits.
