President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states asphalt will be laid on additional roads when the road development project at GA. Gemanafushi is implemented.

Sameer Ahmed, a resident from Gemafushi, underscored asphalt is only planned to be laid at give roads on the island under the road development project on the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ series on Friday; a platform that enables the public to get direct responses to their queries and concerns from the President. Pointing out that Gemanafushi is the second largest island in Gaafu Alifu Atoll – Sameer stressed that smaller islands in the atoll have had asphalt laid in more roads than Gemanafushi.

Responding to Sameer’s concern – President Muizzu pledged to lay asphalt on additional roads at Gemanafushi.

“We will develop the roads required redevelopment at this island including the aforesaid five roads. Hopefully, the island will see full benefits of this, including in fisheries and living standard,” he said.

Sameer also expressed concern over the difficulties faced due to the lack of a multipurpose hall in Gemanafushi school. President Muizzu pledged to resolve the issue as well. Developing a multipurpose hall is an electoral pledge of President Muizzu.

Other pledges he has made for Gemanafushi include:

  • Development of a resort in Maareha
  • Establishment of a bank branch
  • Development of health centre
  • Implementing housing projects
