President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his tour of islands in the four southernmost atolls of the Maldives.

The president began the tour on Sunday from Addu City. During his trip to Addu, he visited all districts of the city, and met with residents of all islands, except for Hithadhoo. His meeting with the residents of Hithadhoo got cancelled after an earlier meeting with the city council ran too long.

However, he witnessed the signing of a MoU for the preliminary design and survey work of a bridge project connecting Hithadhoo to Hulhudhoo-Meedhoo – the biggest developmental project planned for Addu during his term.

President Muizzu then visited Fuvahmulah City, where he met with the island’s residents and city council officials. He also inaugurated the second phase of a project to develop the roads of the city.

His next stop was Huvadhoo region, where he first visited islands in the GDh. Atoll, including Thinadhoo City, Faresmaathodaa, Madaveli, Gadhdhoo and Fiyoaree.

In Thinadhoo, he oversaw the signing of a MoU to contract a project to develop an international airport in the city.

He then visited islands in GA. Atoll; Gemanafushi, Kondey, Vilingili, Kolamaafushi and Dhaandhoo.

In Vilingili, he oversaw the signing of a MoU to contract for the project to develop an international airport – his biggest electoral pledge for the island.

President Muizzu will be travelling to all atolls in the coming days, during which he will meet council officials and locals, and inquire about developmental needs.
