A Swiss woman died on Tuesday while snorkeling in the waters off M. Dhiggaru.
Abdulla Nafiu, the manager at the M. Muli Regional Hospital, told Sun that the hospital received a call from the police regarding the case at 06:57 pm.
The woman had been part of a group of tourists in a liveaboard off Dhiggaru. Her condition suddenly deteriorated while she was snorkeling.
Nafiu said a team from the hospital – two doctors and two nurses – arrived at the scene within 15 minutes.
However, she wasn’t breathing when the team arrived.
Her body was taken to the Muli Regional Hospital at 08:12 pm.
Nafiu said the woman was above the age of 55.
The death is under investigation by the police.
