Recipients who got plots from unreclaimed land to receive guarantee of registry handover

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to award documents confirming registries will be handed over to the recipients of land who was allocated plots from unreclaimed areas in Gulhifalhu and Giraavaarufalhu

The decision was announced by Sunadh Mohamed Latheef, the representative of Male’ Rahvehinge Association (Male' Residents' Association), Hulhumale' Rayyithunge Committee (Hulhumale' Citizens’ Committee), Gulhifalhu Rayyithunge Association (Gulhufalhu Residents’ Association) and Giraavaru Male’ Citizens’ Association during a meeting hosted by Male’ Rahvehinge Association for land recipients on Saturday night.

Providing a summary of Saturday night’s meeting, which was also attended by the president, Sunadh said President Muizzu had assured the document will be handed over to the land recipients.

He further said President had assured to explore how the land registries can be handed over at the earliest, and undertake the efforts necessary in this trajectory.

The President’s Office’s Undersecretary for Public Policy Mohamed Firuzul who participated in the meeting as a representative of the president said the reclamation of the pending locations was proceeding at a fast pace. In this regard, he detailed that 50 or 54 hectares from Giraavarufalhu have been reclaimed as of present while 94 hectares have been reclaimed from Gulhifalhu.

18,955 individuals are eligible for land under the former administration’s ‘Binveriya’ scheme. 9,003 land plots will be issued to recipients from Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu.

Although the previous administration targeted to hand over the registries before the completion of its term – they had not managed to do so.
