Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), on Tuesday, said they will be accommodating medical check-ups for 40 individuals per week under the government’s free health insurance scheme, Aasandha.

As per the hospital, those seeking the service can name note for medical check-ups between 8:00am and 3:00pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Medical check-ups at the hospital will be carried out every Sunday and Thursday, with slots allocated for 20 people per day. Therefore, the hospital will be accommodating 40 individuals per week.

National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) had announced the commencement of free medical checkups for people aged above 50 on Monday, with plans to gradually expand the service to other age categories.

As such, free medical checkups will be expanded to include people aged below 19, and people aged between 35 and 49 on April 1, and people aged between 19 and 34 on July 1.

IGMH is set to establish a clinic with a separate laboratory for medical checkups, said the hospital’s CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq said.

A similar clinic for the purpose has already been set up at Hulhumale’ Hospital.

Facilitating bi-annual free medical check-ups for every individual through Aasandha, is an electoral pledge of President Muizzu, and one of his administration's first 14-week goals. Individuals who are required to undergo a second medical check-up, after the first, can do so for free through Aasandha with documentation from a doctor.
