Hulhule’ recorded all-time high rainfall on Sunday

Statistics publicized by Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) show that Hulhule’ recorded the highest ever rainfall to date in the past 24 hours.

Weather statistics publicized by Met Office, recorded between 8:00am on Sunday through 8:00am on Monday, show that 179.9 millimeters of rain were observed at Hulhule’ during this period – marking the highest-ever rainfall recorded in Hulhule’ to date.

It also marked the highest rainfall at a location during this period.

In second, is capital Male’ City with 118.2 millimeters of rain, with B. Goiadhoo following in third with 105.6 millimeters of rain.

Uninterrupted rain on Sunday prompted heavy flooding in Male’, Hulhule’ and Hulhumale’. The floods, up to the shin, had caused damage to homes and vehicles.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Sunday evening, visited the households impacted by floods during which he observed damages and probed what could be done to address the issue.

Other islands nationwide also experienced heavy rain on Sunday, leading to flooding, with some islands reporting damage to homes.
