The new Maldivian administration has appointed 122 deputy ministers and 79 state ministers so far, as it continues to make more appointments.
Mohamed Shaheeb, the chief spokesperson at the President’s Office, told Sun on Wednesday that it is possible that the news of the new appointments isn’t published on the President’s Office website.
But photos of the appointees will be updated on the website, he said.
According to the information published on the President’s Office website:
Total deputy ministers: 122
- 144 deputy ministers at 21 government ministries
- Eight deputy ministers at the President’s Office
Salary of a deputy minister: MVR 35,000
The highest number of deputy ministers are at the Home Ministry.

As the new administration continues to make appointments, a parliamentary committee recently decided to raise the salaries of the president, vice president and cabinet ministers.
During his presidential campaign, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had pledged to limit political appointments to 700.
