President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Monday, has underscored the importance of fostering modern thinking to align with modern development.
He made the remark in his address after the groundbreaking of the new school in Hulhumale’ Phase II.
In his address, President Muizzu stressed that the negative impacts of failure to provide good education will be felt in the future of the whole nation.
Therewith, he said his administration will place a high priority on fostering modern thinking to align with modern development.
“Developing brains is one of our major projects. Buildings can be constructed as high as possible. However, there is no benefit to the nation if the brains are not developed to align with the height of these buildings,” he said.
President Muizzu noted that he took pride over the fact that the first building developed by the new administration is an educational facility.
Speaking further, President Muizzu also underscored that his administration had taken important decisions to train teachers involved in providing education to students.
In this regard, he said the administration will work to ensure all teachers in the primary and secondary levels are qualified local teachers over the course of the next five years. He added that this will ensure Maldivian children are educated by Maldivian teachers on the foundation of nationalism.
Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by cabinet ministers, students and teachers.
The development of the new school in Hulhumale’ Phase II comes after the recent opening of another school in the area, Salaahudheen School.
