Parliament schedules Cabinet approval for tomorrow

The Parliament is scheduled to take votes on approval for the 22 ministers in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s Cabinet on Monday.

President Muizzu made a formal request for the approval of his Cabinet on November 20.

Last week, the Government Oversight Committee decided that all 22 members of the new Cabinet meet the requirements stipulated on the constitution. But the committee also decided that the vote for approval must be conducted separately for each minister.

The Parliament is set to hear the committee’s report during Monday’s sitting.

While some MDP parliamentarians – who hold a majority in the Parliament – have previously called against backing some of the ministers, the party has made no official decision in the matter.
