Road Development Corporation (RDC) has announced its decision to begin works on the unfinished segments of Ameenee Magu on Saturday.
Only segments 12 and 13 remain unfinished under the Ameenee Magu re-development project.
A large area of Ameenee Magu has been completed as of the present. In this regard, asphalt has been laid from Henveiru end of the road up to Izzudheen Magu, edging the road up to modern standards. The remaining area, which is the Maafannu end of the road, remains the same as before; stone-paved.
RDC, which is undertaking the project, recently held discussions with the Infrastructure Ministry to resume works on Ameenee Magu.
The corporation, on Thursday, said changes will be made to the traffic floor at the Maafannu end of the road, as they begin redevelopment works on Saturday.
The unfinished Maafannu end of Ameenee Magu is a high-traffic area with food courts, a mosque, Viliamle’ Ferry Terminal and Dhiraagu head office in the vicinity.
The redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was contracted to RDC by the former administration on July 3 for MVR 84.4 million.
