Maldives Police Service has, once again, advised people not to park vehicles along Ameenee Magu in Male’, as congestion is becoming more and more frequent, especially during the time when the school session starts and ends, and during official working time.

Ameenee Magu is currently being paved and modernized. Up until the junction of Izzudheen Magu and Ameenee Magu has been re-developed with asphalt and opened to the public.

As soon as the road was opened to the public, there were cars, pickups, and motorcycles parked along one side of the road which blocked one lane. Sometimes cars and pickups are parked so that two lanes are blocked together.

Because the parking issue was going out of control, Police have asked the public not to park along this road before as well.

However, police have advised people not to park their vehicles on the road due to heavy traffic during official hours and school hours as the congestion has increased these past two weeks or so.

Police Spokesperson, Yoonus Sobah, told Sun that it is important to obey the traffic rules in order to solve these congestion issues.

He also said that Traffic Police are currently patrolling the streets as well.

“However, we are currently still slightly delaying the action because the construction of Ameenee Magu is not complete. However, we do take action if we notice that people will be inconvenienced,” Yoonus said.

There are four major schools of Male’ on Ameenee Magu. There are a lot of office buildings on this road as well, which means a lot of people use Ameenee Magu.
