One arrested in Hiyaa stabbing related to family conflict

Citing last night’s stabbing inside a flat at Hiyaa tower took place during a family conflict, Police, on Thursday, said one arrest has been made in connection to the case.

Police identified the arrestee as a 19-year-old Maldivian man.

One person was injured in last night’s stabbing; a 22-year-old Maldivian man.

As per the Police, he is presently being treated at Hulhumale’ Hospital.

Police said their investigations so far show that the stabbing took place during a family conflict.

The case is under further investigation, they added.

The stabbing was the second violent crime reported in the Maldivian capital on Wednesday. It follows a street fight on Orchid Magu in Male’ City, which left a man injured.

Both Male’ and Addu have seen a spike in violent crimes in recent days.
