Membership form filling for PNF commences at Hurafaage

Former Maldivian president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyom meets supporters at the PPM headquarters.

Membership form filling for the new political being formed by former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, People’s National Front (PNF), has commenced at H. Hurafaage on Sunday night.

Former minister Mohamed Jameel who is spearheading the efforts to form the party told Sun that membership form filling is proceeding at the third floor of Hurafaage.

While the office of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), the former party of Yameen where he had been leader, is located at Hurafaage; the party has been instructed to vacate the premises by the owner of the building.

Maleeh noted having received information of the change in address of PPM’s office in accordance with the order.

He stressed that the goal was to secure the signatures of 3,000 members as soon as possible.

“President Yameen is the Maldivian president with the largest follower base. Therewith, we believe a record number will be collected,” he said.

Efforts have commenced to seek Elections Commission (EC)’s approval to form PNF, under the names of eight people, with Yameen’s son, Zain Abdulla Yameen as the main founding member.

Yameen resigned from PPM, where he served as the leader, following political conflicts on Thursday night.

The name and the logo of his new party were unveiled last night.

Maleeh said the party will file for permission to form the party as soon as it finishes criminal record clearance and other administrative formalities; a decision made after discussions with EC earlier today.
