Maldivian first couple depart to Türkiye on first official visit

Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has departed to Türkiye in his first official visit to a foreign country since assuming office, a week back.

President Muizzu, accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, departed to Türkiye on Sunday morning.

According to the President’s Office, the first couple departed to Türkiye on an official visit, at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

During the visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet senior government officials of Türkiye to explore potential areas for mutual collaboration, and enhance the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

A high-level government delegation is accompanying the President and the First Lady on the visit.

President Muizzu will return to the Maldives after attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference - COP 28, to be held in the United Arab Emirates on November 30th.
