Police seize documents in RDC probe

The police have seized “a large number of documents” from the Road Development Corporation (RDC) in their investigation into the state-run corporation.

On Tuesday, the police raided all RDC offices and project sites in Male’ City.

After the raids, which lasted hours, the police were seen taking dozens of box files from the locations.

The police are reportedly investigating a case involving the embezzlement of MVR 13 million in petty cash which was deposited to the private bank accounts of several employees.

However, the police have yet to confirm this, saying only that search operation was conducted under a court warrant, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

RDC officials were not immediately available for comment regarding the situation.

The raid on RDC follows a similar one on the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), last month.
