Housing Ministry states that it is working to hand over the registration to all recipients of land under the first phase of the ‘Binveriya’ housing scheme before the end of the month.

The remark comes amid concern over the delay in handover of registration to the remaining recipients.

State Minister for Housing Akram Kamaluddin told Sun on Monday that the ministry had initially tried to complete the process by October 25.

He said that the work got delayed after many of the ministry’s employees fell sick with the flu.

“A lot of our employees got sick with the flu that’s currently going around. This caused delays. We are now working to complete the hand over of registrations before the end of this month,” he said.

Akram said that the process will be complete before November 5, as promised by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

9,003 plots of land are being issued from Hulhumale’, Gulhi Falhu, and Giraavaru Falhu under the first phase of the ‘Binveriya’ scheme.

President Solih had announced during the presidential campaign that 4,000 more plots would be issued in the second phase.
