The banners and posters hung up for MDP’s campaign in Fuvahmulah City have been purposely damaged.
A media official from Maldives Police Service said regarding the issue that campaign posters and banners have been damaged in many parts of Fuvahmulah. The issue was reported to the Police this morning.
No arrests have been made in connection to this case. Police are actively investigating this incident.
People who talked to Sun said the items were also damaged early last night, but there is no one that they suspect did it as of yet.
There were conflicts when President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Fuvahmulah for his campaign.
This is not the first incident where MDP political centres and campaign items were damaged, it has happened in multiple islands all over Maldives.
For instance, oil was thrown at a MDP political centre in GDh. Hoadedhdhoo, and another political centre which was set to host President Solih’s campaign rally had oil thrown at it, set on fire and damaged very badly in the same atoll as well.
