Oncology Ward inaugurated at IGMH

An Oncology Ward, for cancer patients, has been inaugurated at the main government hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The ward was inaugurated by Vice President Faisal Naseem during a special ceremony held at the hospital on Wednesday morning.

Developed with financial assistance from Bank of Maldives (BML), the Oncology Ward features eight beds, two lavatories for patients, a nursing station, a waiting area, a staff area, a storeroom and an administrative office.

The facility specializes in a range of medical and support services for cancer diagnosis, treatment, and management.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, VP Faisal emphasized the significant progress achieved by the administration in enhancing healthcare services across the nation. He highlighted the importance of establishing an oncology ward at IGMH and recalled the administration's numerous efforts to introduce new healthcare services and improve service delivery at the hospital.

VP Faisal also underlined the administration's focus on developing healthcare services in the atolls which is aimed at reducing the difficulties faced by residents of the islands in travelling to capital Malé City for healthcare services. He also highlighted the administration's ambitious efforts to develop tertiary-level hospitals in five regions of the country, noting that these hospitals are introducing new services.
