Police said Wednesday that travel bans have been issued against two people in connection to the investigation into the sale of apartments from the K-Park Residences, a condominium under development in Hulhumale’, using forged documents.

The Criminal Court had previously granted a request by police to hold the passport of Hassan Mamdhooh (Manday), the minority shareholder of Hanbo Company Pvt. Ltd.

In a press statement Wednesday, police said passports of two more people have been held in connection to the case. They were identified only as a local and a foreigner.

The case was reported to police by Hanbo and Urbanco.

In a statement regarding the case, Hanbo said the company is owned by two people. Manday, who has a five percent stake, and Jin Shihu, a Chinese national, who has 95 percent stake.

Hanbo said they found that unbeknownst to the company, Manday and a second person, Jaishan Saeed, had sold multiple apartments at the condominium using fraud and deceit.

Manday denies the allegations against him.

In a three-page statement Tuesday, Manday called the allegations against him “a blatant lie” and a “conspiracy” against him, carried out after he opposed plans by Jin to appoint the local contractor hired to do glass works in the project as the company’s board secretary.

Police had asked on Monday for victims of the scam to come forward and share information. According to police, the case involves sale of apartments from the K-Park Residences using forged documents, and embezzlement of the money collected in the scam.
