President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed opened the Total Fitness Group's (TfG) new gym, the TfG Sports Fitness and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday.
After opening the gym, they toured it and inquired about its services.
TfG’s CEO Hussain Zinan told Sun they had wanted to create a spacious space for people to exercise since the company opened its first gym in 2010.
“As we relocate to a new center 13 years later, we move to a center that offers scientific training we call factual training,” he said.
The four-floor TfG's Sports Fitness and Rehabilitation Center has a total capacity of 200 people. The new facility has a mini-exercise science lab and a state-of-the-art physiotherapy area accessible to wheelchair users and others who need access due to injuries. The ground floor houses a cafeteria and mini mart.
The new facility also has separate locker rooms for men and women, a steam room, an ice bath, showers, and lockers.
For serious athletes who need to recover as rapidly as possible, there is also a rehabilitation area called "healers" available.
Zinan said they began efforts to develop the new center back in 2019. However, the project suffered setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As you are aware, the fitness industry had a hard time. Fitness centers had to close for a long time. And we had to adhere to social distancing,” he said.
Zinan said the new center was designed to accommodate such situations.
The TfG Sports and Rehabilitation Center was open for tour Wednesday. Thursday is a half-day, and normal operations resume Sunday at 05:30 am.
Clients need to go to the center to register as members.
