A Maldivian student who sustained critical injuries in an accident in Philippines back in March has been transferred to Thailand for additional treatment.
Luhaim Mohamed Ismail, 21, a native of Fuvahmulah City, is an aviation student at the Airworks Aviation Academy.
He was injured in a road accident in Cebu on March 31, when the motorbike he was driving collided with another vehicle. The impact threw him into the air and he crashed into the road light.
Luhaim’s father Mohamed Ismail told Sun Luhaim was transported to the Thai capital Bangkok and admitted to a hospital Saturday night. He said Luhaim’s condition has not improved.
“There are few places he hasn’t sustained injuries to. He has sustained multiple internal injuries to his lungs and other organs,” he said.
Along with head injuries, Luhaim also sustained multiple fractures to his legs. Ismail said the injuries have yet to be treated.
“They are providing life-saving treatments first,” he said.
His parents and other members of his family had travelled to Philippines following the accident.
