Nazim: No deal to make with President Solih

Maldives National Party’s (MNP) presidential candidate and leader, Dhangethi MP Mohamed Nazim have remarked that there is no deal to be made with the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Speaking in an episode of MNP’s program, ‘Nazim Bunanee Keekey?’ – he described many of MDP’s fundamentals and policies as ‘unacceptable’. He reiterated that MNP was not a partner of the government.

“As I have stated in many podiums, we are not a partner of the government. We have no deals to make with Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. We are not a party that was incepted at the instruction of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. We are a party we formed, on our own, in order to serve the nation,” he said.

Nazim further stated that he does not believe in coalitions – whereas the constitution does not mention coalitions either. He added that forming coalitions over the personal desire for presidency is unacceptable.

“As I believe, a political party is incepted in order to come to governance for the purpose of serving the people. Henceforth, all political parties must disclose the policies they believe to the people,” he said.

Nazim said that the people would make their decision once the policies are disclosed. However, he indicated that working together in the second round of an election is an option.

Highlighting some of his policies – Nazim said under his governance, no foreign military will have the opportunity to exercise power over Maldives. He linked all these problems to the foreign policies deployed by the current administration. On this note, he said that the foreign policies of the current administration are at a point that threatens the independence and sovereignty of Maldives.

Underscoring Maldives remains in immense debt – attributing the current administration’s careless economic policies to the fact.

He further remarked that the present situation of Maldives is at a lower state than ever before. In this regard, he said that hopeful citizens remain dejected without happy news.
