A tourist snorkeling off K. Thulusdhoo died Sunday, after getting hit by a dinghy boat.
A police spokesperson said the incident was reported to authorities at around 11:10 am.
According to the police, the victim, identified as a 52-year-old Polish male, was already deceased when taken to the local health center.
Thulusdhoo Council’s president Aslam Moosa told Sun that the channel to the north east of the island is a popular snorkeling spot among travelers.
“Police said he was outside that spot. And that the dinghy is registered to Thulusdhoo. I am unable to confirm this yet,” he said.
The tourist was reportedly found with one arm severed and part of his intestines missing.
