Positive virus cases include two from Thulusdhoo

Two migrants on the island of K. Thulusdhoo are among those who tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24-hours, Thulusdhoo Council has stated.

Two employees of a company carrying out construction work in Thulusdhoo had tested positive for the virus on April 15 after arriving in Male’ City. The two employees had tested positive for the virus on April 21.

Due to these cases, contact tracing on the island saw samples collected from 40 individuals on the island. Thulusdhoo Council confirmed to Sun that two samples out of these had tested positive.

Work to move the two individuals to an isolation facility was underway.  The country has so far confirmed 214 cases of the virus, the majority of which originated in Male' City within the last two weeks. A record number of positive cases were confirmed today with 73 cases. Authorities have stated that the majority of the infected cases are migrants.
