Missing Dhevvadhoo fisherman found dead

A crew member of a fishing boat from GA. Dhevvadhoo who was reported missing to authorities has been found dead.

Mohamed Rasheed, 56, GA. Dhevvadhoo, was reported missing to police at 08:30 am Wednesday, when he failed to return to the boat after getting into the waters to catch bait.

Dhevvadhoo councilwoman Aishath Thamheeda said the crew realized Mohamed Rasheed was missing when they readied to depart after catching bait.

His body was found approximately one nautical mile outside Dhevvadhoo.

He was already deceased when taken to the Dhevvadhoo Health Center, according to police.

The exact cause of his death remains unclear at this point.

“Police are looking into the case,” said a police spokerson.
