One of the cranes used by India’s Afcons in the construction of the Thilamale’ Bridge fell off a self-elevating platform Monday.
The Planning Ministry official in charge of managing the project told Sun the crane fell due to a failed boom.
The official said the incident did not result in anything concerning; no injuries or damage to any other equipment.
“The contractor has enough equipment to continue the project without interruption,” he said.
The incident took place during installation of the permanent pillars of the bridge.
It comes after one of Afcon’s self-elevating platforms wrecked on Vilimale’ reef back in August, resulting in damages to the reef.
The company was fined MVR 69 million for damages.
