Thilamale’ Bridge’s monitoring committee meeting held in India

The 12th meeting of the Thilamale’ Bridge’s Joint Project Monitoring Committee was held in India’s Mumbai.

The meeting was attended by Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib.

Via a post on X, Infrastructure Ministry the Minister co-chaired the meeting alongside High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Munu Mahawar.

As per the Ministry, the meeting saw discussions at a strategic and technical level in order to ensure that the project remains on track.

“The intended objective of this session is to ensure active involvement of the Ministry's and other stakeholders’ highest political tier is crucial in maintaining our momentum and ensuring the project's completion according to the timeline,” said the Ministry.

Minister Muthalib was accompanied by Infrastructure Ministry’s state ministers Ibrahim Thoaam Mohamed, Ismail Hameed and the technical team in addition to senior officials from Finance Ministry and Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was also attended by senior officials from Ministry of External Affairs of India, Exim Bank of India, the contractor and the consultant.

The Ministry states the current progress of Thilamale’ Bridge project is 43.59 percent. The completion date of the project from Male’ to Vilimale’ is December 31, 2025, Male’ to Gulhifalhu is March 31, 2026, and from Gulhifalhu to Thilafushi is September 30th, 2026.

The project, which commenced in August 2021, is a USD 400 million initiative with the funds arranged through a Line of Credit from the EXIM Bank of India.
