Vice President Faisal Naseem stated on Tuesday said that the administration was working towards eliminating all obstacles to building happy and prosperous families.
The statement was made during his address at a function held to launch a children's book series published by the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services.
This book series is part of the "Geveshi Gulhun" campaign led by the administration, seeking to create awareness of and eliminate domestic abuse and violence.
The Vice President unveiled the book series during the function, where the ministry also launched an audiobook of the "Saasthura" magazine and a video song.
In his speech, the Vice President noted that domestic violence and sexual assault have been age-old crimes in the country, which this administration has taken steps to address since day one.
He went on to add that they were working towards eliminating domestic violence and sexual assault and creating a conducive environment to build happy, dignified, prosperous families.
Speaking further, he outlined some of the achievements made by the administration in ensuring a caring state and dignified families.
This includes the introduction of six months of paid maternity leave and one month of paid paternity leave, in addition to plans to establish childcare centres.
Furthermore, the vice president announced plans to develop family lounges in upcoming school buildings.
He also spoke about the importance of reporting domestic violence and sexual assault during his address.
Emphasising the administration's efforts to raise awareness about the issue was bearing fruit, he highlighted that 494 cases were reported in 2021.
The Vice President stressed the role of parents and guardians in being role models to children and the role of society in ensuring the success of awareness campaigns such as "Geveshi Gulhun."
The campaign was launched on July 15, 2020, and several public awareness activities have been carried out over the past two years.
