Bangladeshi arrested with 48 beer cans from Hulhumale’ Phase II

An expatriate has been arrested with a large number of beer cans from Hulhumale’ Phase II.

Police identified the expatriate arrested on Saturday night as a 30-year-old Bangladesh man.

They detailed that the beer cans were discovered after stopped and searched by officers on patrol as his behavior was suspicious.

Police said that the man was stopped in Hulhumale’ Phase II, near Nirolhu Magu bridge, and they had discovered 48 cans of beer while searching him.

They further detailed that the man was brought before Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court for a remand hearing – at which the court had remanded him in custody for 15 days, at a detention facility chosen by the Home Ministry.

Police added that they stopped two people on a motorbike over suspicious behavior on the same night, and during a search of the motorbike, had discovered an alcohol bottle in the under seat storage of the motorbike.

They underscored no one had been arrested in connection to this case, however, did not disclose their reasoning.

Hulhumale’ Phase II Police Station are investigating both cases further.
