Three expats arrested for alleged sale of alcohol to be deported

Three male expatriates have been arrested on suspicion of possession and sale and alcohol.

Maldives Police Service said a house in Male’ City’s Henveiru district and a motorbike were searched as part of an operation on Wednesday based on a tip received by Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

In the operation carried out jointly by Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence, Police seized 19 bottles of alcohol and 19 cans of beer.

The three suspects arrested in the case have been identified as Sri Lankan nationals: Senith Heshan Wickremesinghe, 29, Dulith Madusaka, 39, and Jinitha Madhuranga Senavirathin, 24. All three have been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation.

The case is under further investigation by the Police.
