Three competitions organized by Dhivehi Language Academy ongoing

The higher secondary faction of three different competitions organized by the Dhivehi Language Academy has commenced.

These competitions are the 37th national essay writing competition, the 34th national short story writing competition and the 25th national poetry competition.

Secondary and lower secondary factions for the coemptions have already been held in October this year.

According to the academy, a total of 123 students from schools across the country participated this time around. That is 49 students who participated in the essay writing competition, 59 students who took part in the short story writing and 15 students in the poetry competition.

Speaking about the competition, the President of Dhivehi Language Academy Dr Ashraf Abdul Raheem said to Sun that holding such competitions at a time when great changes are impacting the language would enhance the love for it among students.

Additionally, Dr Ashraf noted the support extended and expressed gratitude towards the island, city and atoll councils of the islands from which students participated.

The competitions are held simultaneously in all the schools, via Zoom calls.

The essay writing competition concluded on Saturday morning, and the short story part is currently ongoing. The final part – poetry writing will be held on Saturday night.

Dr Ashraf further stated they were working to reveal the results and winners for all the competitions on January 15, 2023, on World Poetry Day.
