The public shows worry as a bad smell permeates the area near Hulhumale skate park for a second time.

The area near the skate park and its immediate surroundings are uninhabited and a place that people rarely go to. The empty field near the skate park is very densely packed with different vegetation.

The place is filled with abandoned vehicles and other types of refuse and trash.

As a bad smell is noticed from near there again, the general public has been complaining about it on social media.

In a lot of replies to a tweet made talking about the smell, multiple people agreed with the tweet saying they too had noticed such a smell.

Maldives Police Service said, regarding the smell, that they have received complaints about it, and has been brought to their attention.

“As we have received reports that there is an unpleasant odour coming from the intersection of “Saima Hingun” and “Nirolhu Magu” in Hulhumale, Police are currently searching the area”, the Police have revealed.

The area has been known to smell bad in the past as well, but it wasn’t paid much attention to.

But a general sense of unease began to spread when Mohamed Azhan, who went missing this past September, was found dead among the foliage in the field.

People who passed by there back then complained of a strong odour coming from there.
