Ooredoo Maldives has upgraded and relaunched its Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered digital care assistant ‘Evee’ – enabling customers to interact with the digital care assistant in Dhivehi language, as well as its brand-new Dhivehi font.

The launching ceremony was held at the Manhattan Business Hotel on Monday. Technology Minister Aminath Shauna and Heritage Minister Yumna Maumoon attended the ceremony as special guests to help make the launches.

Evee enables mobile users in Maldives to easily engage with Ooredoo via the hotline 929 to check data, SMS, Voice and bill balances, and to easily engage with Ooredoo via Facebook Messenger and Viber platform to check best offers, data add-ons, or manage Ooredoo services using real-time automated answers - eliminating the waiting time on the call to reach a customer care agent.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shauna said the introduction of Evee in Dhivehi will prevent customers unfamiliar with technology from getting overlooked.

“No one should be denied technological services,” she said.

According to Ooredoo, Evee is currently in the learning phase to interact with customers in Dhivehi and will continue to improve user experience through machine learning as she interacts more and more with customers. Customers who wish to acquire services through Evee can simply dial 929, select Dhivehi as the preferred language, and choose option 1.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ooredoo Maldives’ CEO and Managing Director Khalid Al-Hamadi stressed AI-powered loT and other emerging technologies have enormous potential to transform the lives of customers, creating new opportunities that will enrich the lives of communities.

“And in line with our mission, today we are proud to upgrade our already existing AI-powered digital assistant Evee to enable Dhivehi interactions, increasing accessibility and inclusiveness of acquiring our services to all our customers. As a global brand that heavily prioritize localization within every market Ooredoo operates, we are also delighted to officially launch our very own Dhivehi font. This beautiful new font enables us to prioritize communications in Dhivehi and connect better with customers while ensuring that our communications portray the essence of our brand identity,” he said.

Ooredoo said it plans on making further investments in Evee to further evolve the service, introduce additional features and transform customer interactions on a multitude of digital channels.

The company hopes to utilize Evee to enable the automation of all customer experiences from inquiries and fulfilment to promotions, for the provision of more effective and faster services.

Evee was initially launched on October 20, 2019, in the English and since then, the services via the Bot have evolved and streamlined services for its customers.

Ooredoo states the upgrade to Evee is in line with the company’s new tagline ‘Upgrade Your World’ - emphasizing the company’s continued commitment to drive its services to the next level and make it more inclusive through localized communications which connects more with customers.
