Nationwide e-sports league commences with 49 teams

Ooredoo Maldives has officially launched the 'Atoll Esports League,' a nationwide e-sports tournament organized and sponsored by its gaming division, Ooredoo Nation.

The Ooredoo Nation Atoll E-sports League 2025 began last Wednesday. According to Ooredoo, the tournament features 49 teams representing 35 islands across 16 atolls.

The tournament boasts a prize pool of MVR 50,000. All PUBG Mobile matches will be played online. The prize distribution is as follows:

• First Prize: MVR 25,000

• Second: MVR 12,000

• Third: MVR. 6,000

• Fourth: MVR. 3,000

• Most Valuable Player (MVP): MVR 4,000

Ooredoo states that the league's objectives are to cultivate local gaming communities, promote digital inclusion, and empower youth by offering a platform for skill development and community engagement. This initiative aligns with Ooredoo Maldives' broader strategy to cultivate a thriving esports ecosystem, leveraging their high-speed 4G/5G networks for seamless online participation.
