248 cases reported to Gender Ministry in June

Gender Ministry states it received and attended to 248 cases in June, the majority of which involved violence against children.

Gender Ministry released its case statistics for June on Monday afternoon.

126 of the cases in June involved violence against children, most of them involving negligence, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and witnessing domestic violence.

While 28 of the cases involved negligence, 27 involved witnessing domestic violence, 26 cases involved emotional abuse, 24 involved sexual abuse, 16 cases involved physical abuse, two involved cyber bullying, one involved bullying and harassment, and one involved commercial exploitation or child labor.

Gender Ministry also attended to 40 cases of gender-based violence and domestic violence in June.

22 of the cases involved physical violence, eight involved emotional or verbal abuse, four involved sexual violence, three involved intimidation, one involved rape, one involved controlling behavior, and one involved withholding or damage to property.

Gender Ministry attended to 26 cases involving family issues. 

13 cases involved parenting issues, 11 involved access to child, and two involved custody or access issues.

Meanwhile, 19 cases were reported to the Gender Ministry in June involving care and support of the elderly and persons with disabilities. 

It included 15 cases involving care and support for persons with disabilities, and four cases involving care and support for the elderly. 

Gender Ministry attended to 20 cases involving self-harm or suicidal behavior in June.

It included 11 cases involving self-harming, eight cases involving suicidal behavior, and one case involving suicidal thoughts

Meanwhile, Gender Ministry also attended to one case involving children in conflict with the law. It involved physical assault and aggression. 

12 cases involving child behavioral problems were reported in June, including seven cases of running away from home, three cases of temper tantrums, and two cases of refusal to attend school.

Gender Ministry also attended to four cases involving violation of child rights in June. It involved two cases of refusal to vaccinate children, and two cases of refusal to send children to school.

There are total 196 children under state care or fostered or reintegrated, including 115 boys and 92 girls. Four children were taken into state care in June, while six were reintegrated with their family, and one was placed with a foster family.
