Maldives Meteorological Service has issued yellow alert for central Maldives, warning of heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas.
The yellow alert is effective from 10:30 am to 02:30 pm on Saturday, for the area from B. Atoll to M. Atoll.
Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the area will be affected by heavy rain and strong winds of 25-30 miles per hour, with gusts of 50 miles per hour.
Seas are expected to be very rough, with waves expected to reach heights of 5-8 feet, said the service.
Seafarers have been advised to be cautious.
Maldives is currently feeling the effects of the Hulhangu Monsoon (South-West Monsoon).
Scattered rain with squally showers and thunderstorms are expected across the country.
