Tourist dies after drowning in a resort

A tourist who ventured into the sea at a resort located in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll has passed away after drowning.

Maldives Police Service said that drowning of a person at a resort in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll was reported to the authority at around 12:11pm this afternoon.

Citing doctors, Police confirmed that the victim passed away while being treated at the hospital.

They have identified the victim as a 30-year-old Indian man.

The authority said that the case is under further investigation.
