Dhuvaafaru man who went snorkeling drowns

A man from R. Dhuvaafaru who went snorkeling has died after drowning.

Police said the man went snorkeling off You and Me resort, in Raa Atoll. 

Police said the man was taken to Ungoofaru Hospital at approximately 2:12pm, adding he had already been deceased at that time. 

Dhuvaafaru Council President identified the deceased to Sun as a native of the island; 51-year-old Ismail Moosa.

Ungoofaru Hospital’s Customer Relations Officer Hassan Fazeel, noting Ismail Moosa was brought to the hospital late afternoon, said he had already been deceased at that time.

Citing doctors, Fazeel said he died after drowning.
